PROJECTS

GENESYS CREATORS PROGRAMME 2020

The Genesys Creators Programme is a collaboration between Genesys and Coventry University, where students work on a project that would be showcased in industry. Students involved in the project would be put into designated groups based on their current skills or skills they would like to learn and develop like web development, user interface design, filming, editing and graphic design.

I was assigned as leader of the development team in which had the responsibility of creating a platform for creative/professional clients to display their projects and work. This was a story sharing platform for creators to showcase videos displaying the work they have done with Genesys tools and services to customers/companies who are looking for their skills and talent. The aim of the project is to bridge the gap between the creators and corporate clients through Genesys to give opportunities for both parties to be discovered and collaborate.

The web development team's task were both front-end and back-end which consisted of designing/constructing the layout of each page then coding the website once we have decided on the functionalities. I was involved with creating the wireframes of the website using Adobe XD and Photoshop to give the group and client a visual representation of the ideas we were pitching to them during the start of the project as well as new concepts we would think of throughout the project. As the project progressed, I also learned the basics of code to help construct some of the pages of the website such as the Contact, About Us and Upload page.

As well as technical skills, through this project I was able to understand the value and impact of effective communication skills through emails, one-to-one client feedback and presentations. Throughout the project I was liaising with the client to ensure we were meeting their expectations as we progressed, which gave me an insight on how projects are like in a corporate environment. We also had weekly meetings where we showcased our progress and planned tasks to get done before the next meeting. This pushed me to develop key organisation and time management skills to navigate through tasks under pressure, providing solutions to problems, whilst meeting weekly deadlines.

INDESIGN PROJECT

During my first year at university I took up an Adobe InDesign course which taught me the basics of creating, editing and printing media artefacts for print and digital outlets. After 12 weeks of the course, we were assessed on our final project in which we had to produce a front cover and double page spread on any magazine genre/theme. I decided to produce those artefacts based on sports magazines - specifically basketball as it is one of my hobby's and interest's.

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

Here are some of the media artefacts I created during college as a Media Studies student using Adobe Photoshop. One of the projects consisted of producing a film magazine and poster of a trailer we had to come up with and shoot the trailer of. The other project was based on a music magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread which we also had to take our own photos.
